GARDENING GUIDE

Garden Installation

A successful installation is planned around the site's sun, soil, drainage, irrigation, access, mature plant size and maintenance expectations.

Site assessment

  • Observe sunlight through the day.
  • Identify drainage patterns, slopes and compacted areas.
  • Review irrigation access and water pressure.
  • Account for utilities, walls, fences, structures and pathways.

Planting plan

Group plants with compatible water and light needs. Space for mature size rather than the size at purchase.

Soil preparation

Improve soil only where appropriate for the selected plants. Over-amending individual holes can create drainage and root problems.

Establishment period

New plantings often require closer moisture monitoring until roots establish. The schedule should change with weather and plant type.

Plant-safety note: Plant toxicity varies by species and may affect pets or children. Verify the exact botanical species before placing a plant where ingestion is possible.
